When accidentally closing a tab, how can I unclose it ?

The same as in M1?

Alt-Z or by using the Undo button on the main toolbar, and if it isn't visible, then you need to make it show, similar as in M1. But unlike M1, in M2 if an existing button does not show by default, you just right-click the toolbar and select "Add or Remove Buttons".
In this case you need to right-click the Main toolbar with the back/forward buttons. This produces a submenu showing the available buttons for the toolbar you right-clicked on. (It differs from toolbar to toolbar which butttons get shown)

ok I have used this for years now I love the feature but recently I have noticed that it no longer remembers the history of the reopened page.  Is this a setting that I may have turned off?
